“I am here to Host the Gig” DJ Speedsta told me as I bumped into him at the Coca Cola South Africa lunch event for the brand’s all-new Energy Drink range launch. Sported in an all black cleanly cut and immaculately fitting suit jacket with a dark navy blue turtle neck polo inside with a super dope Ice grid round his neck, a smell of a cologne that tells of a billion dollar business man and clean-cut side-shaved hair cut that dropped in the super urban culture lifestyle. This N0.1 South Africa Hip hop DJ, Speedsta is no doubt destined to do this.
Judging by the massive body of talent, no wonder the bookings keep flying in from all corners through the length and breath of the country and the SADEC region in general. “I was actually booked for another Gig; and they call me to Host this one as an MC and another one hereafter and another one thereafter”. Damn! this dude is tight on the grip WITH SHOWS AFTER SHOWS.
Savoring his moments and the glorious entertainment career to date, Speedsta said he is “excited” about his new ventures into A-List Events Hosting as MC
The list of professions in the entertainment industry above will scare anyone to the brim. Strictly not for the faint-hearted especially when it comes to delivering on the p[promise of your talent. But, Alas, DJ Speedsta is one of the very few right now that’s got their fingers wrapped on all of those profession simultaneously at the moment. Delivering on each of them from being N0.1 hip hop DJ to, Award winning record producer, full course radio show, tv presenting gigs and now top-notch emcing.
“DJ is my forte” He reinserted. “Before anything, you can take away radio, take away tv, take away whatever, am still DJ Speedsta. It just happen to be, luckily, everything that I do, is tied in together.”
Recently, DJ Speedsta Twitter Account got hacked. When asked about it, he eloquently described how it happened. A description that resembles that of American hackers staging a hacking comeback at Russian hackers with blackmails and ransom demands.
“Got a call from someone who said hey, ‘I’m Kevin the hacker’. “He needed R1200.00 for his school fees”.
DJ Speedsta, unlike most of us, was actually worried about the mindset that can prompt a young high school kid to go into hacking. “But I was worried about his mindset and struggles such young kid is going through.”
So the humble DJ, popped out R12K and even decide to just “forget about the hacked twitter account”, went ahead to open a new one. Hmm! Some of us would have done so much otherwise.
Giving back to the community is not just passion but also the love of neibourhood, development of humanity in general and those around us. This is what the DJ Speedsta Foundation is set out to do and achieve.
The Foundation has find their root in developing talents with powerful youth programs focusing a the sport of Skateboard. The foundation is setting up skateboard parks and training young kids with passion for skateboarding.
Not giving too much away, but the N0.1 South Africa hip hop DJ did indicates that he’s got a “brand new album coming up”. And promised to update Morgeez Magazine sooner as the projects progresses.
Founder of Morgeez Records and Publisher at Morgeez Magazine. Christopher Odiley is a talented brat with passion for the development of talents. Providing necessary platforms, information using channels that can immediately impact on the activities of talented individuals geared towards success.
